WebA piece of thin wire has higher resistance than a piece of thicker wire with the same length, which means that it's harder for electric current to move through it. If you use the same … WebGiven two wires of the same length, the thicker wire would have smaller resistance than the thinner wire. (e.g., At 25° C, AWG 4 wire has a resistance of .2485Ω for 1000 feet, while AWG 40 wire has a resistance of 1079Ω for 1000 feet.) Current capacity (amps). Current capacity is a measure of the amount of current a wire can carry safely.
Web17 Feb 2014 · Trader Rating: 10 (100% +) Thick vs thin strands for battery wire. I ran out of my 10AWG Turnigy wire, so I went to a local automotive store and picked up what they had there. It happened to be copper with much thicker strands than what I see in common RC-application wires. The specs are the same (30 Amp blah-blah) and so is the thickness. Web10 Oct 2024 · 1. Note: Small Gauge mean the wire can carry a significant amount of current. Example per the attach AWG 4-5 can carry 100A. There are lot other factors need to be considered before selecting a wire. Below is guide line help you appreciate wire gauge vs current. This is purely a guideline.
Web13 Jan 2024 · For the same wire gauge: More and thinner strands is a more flexible cable. Less and thicker strands is a cheaper cable. Can't think of much else. As well as greater flexibility, its far harder to fracture fine strands when tightly bending the cable. Logged.
