AKG, Sennheiser, and EV routinely try to sell a better 57 or 58 equivalent for a little more, but the market routinely couldn't care less, so some pretty decent mics are out there and often for well below their practical worth. WebJan 3, 2016 · On a genuine sm58, inside the bottom end (where the XLR plugs in) there is supposed to be a crossed out trash can (do not dispose symbol). Mine does not have the crossed trash can. Haven't tested it yet, but wanted to get some input from y'all on it and see if I need to return it ASAP or if it's genuine. What do y'all think?
